There are two programs which we implement in growing our Konjac; 1st is “NURSERY” which we plant a small konjac bulbil seeds with sizes 50 – 350 pcs per kilogram with planting distances of 20 cm each other. And 2nd is “Tuber Growth” which focus on the growth of mini konjac to reach a 2 kg – 3 kg in weight after one season planting time frame (6-8 months) with 50 cm planting distances.
The aims of this stage is to know the suitable planting time is good to be applied in the rainy season approaches so that water can be absorbed by plants and minerals in the soil can be dissolved, the way of planting process corrrectly and the methode for reposition and replanting the yellow konjac’s plant.
At this stage, farmers will know properly how to plant yellow konjac’s seeds and the appropriate methode at the beginning of planting and understand the right time for plants to grow well. In addition, farmers will also carry out appropriate consolidation methods for the purpose of optimizing for the future harvesting time.
Yellow Konjac’s seeds have grown on ground that had been mulched. The mulch that was utilized was perforated mulch with a spacing of 50 cm and a depth of 10 cm. Planting bulbil seeds requires a spacing of 20 cm and a planting depth of 5 cm. Yellow konjac planting is good to be applied in the rainy season approaches so that water can be absorbed by plants and minerals in the soil can be dissolved. Weed development should be considered during the early planting phase since weed growth is three times quicker than yellow konjac growth.
After planting activities, farmers have to consolidate at the planting location to guarantee that some loose soil erosion or konjac seeds resurface occurs when it’s rains. As a result, backfilling and replanting are required to be applied. Planting yellow konjac’s plant is simple as long as the necessary circumstances for life and growth.
