Seed preparation is done before planting, this seed preparation aims to ensure the condition of the seeds is really suitable for planting. At this stage, the number of seeds to be planted is estimated according to the spacing and land area to be used. The stages of seed preparation are seed size classification and seed treatment.
At this stage, the seeds will be properly selected and suitable processing to the next stage. bubils seedlings and tuber seedlings will be classified according to their condition and size and do a treatment according to the conditions of each seed.
Bulbils and tubers are the two seeds utilized in yellow konjac cultivation. Both seeds produce yellow konjac tubers. the only difference is the harvesting period for each seed. The tuber harvesting season is one season long. For bulbils seeds to be collected after two seasons of planting, the seeds must be free of fungus and disease. The presence of fungi in the seeds will affect the cultivation activities. Before starting the planting activities, farmers should apply some treatments care for that seeds before commencing plant time.
While waiting for the tuber to slumber in the soil, seedlings can be picked, and the harvested seeds are immediately transferred to the seedling house for storage. Seeds should not be washed or exposed to direct sunlight. In the seedling house, seeds are placed on an iron net rack that has been provided inverted for air drying. Seed consolidation is done on a regular basis to ensure that the seeds are in good condition and not moldy. Seedlings that have been rotten owing to fungus can be treated in a number of ways. Moldy seeds can be treated by cleaning the moldy sections and then washing them with anti-fungal water. Rotten seeds can be treated by removing the rotten portions and then applying rubbing ash, while moldy seeds can be treated by cleaning the moldy parts and then washing them with anti-fungal water. Before being carried to the planting area, treated seeds can be kept on a storage rack.
