Sumatra Island is one of thousands of islands in Indonesia with a variety of natural potentials and abundant commodities from rubber, palm oil, coffee, oil, earth, coal, and natural gas produced on this island. The construction of the Trans Sumatra Toll Road (JTTS) is expected to facilitate and improve access to the national logistics. By good road access, the distribution of food, clothing and shelter is not a problem, so there is little chance of scarcity. In addition, logistics costs will be reduced so that superior agricultural products and resources can be distributed properly in a fast time with affordable costs. PT. Mitra Porang Nusantara porang has several lands and collaborates with many konjac farmers spread across several provinces on the island of Sumatra. Every farmer who cooperates with PT. Mitra Porang Nusantara is required to register land owned by the farmers to make it easier for companies to track the latest activities and control product quality from each farmer, so that the products are able to complete the requirements demanded by global market and local markets. By related with the existence of this JTSS, it will help PT. Mitra Porang Nusantara in terms of logistics transportation to transport the community’s porang agricultural products to be brought to the factory and processed with good standarization. JTSS is planned to be built along 2,812 km stretching to the tip of Sumatra Island which was built with the aim of opening new economic centers that can be built from industrial areas and able to become the main access in connecting various provinces on the island of Sumatra.

The construction of this JTSS has a multiplier impact on output in the economy of 1.70. The annual output impact of the construction of this toll road is equivalent to 2.2% of the Gross Regional Domestic Product (GDP) on the island of Sumatra. In terms of employment, the annual workforce impact from the construction of this toll road is equivalent to 2.4% of the workforce on the island of Sumatra. This proves that the construction of this toll road has generated a stimulus to the Indonesian economy and has had a positive impact in the form of creating added value, community income and employment opportunities.
