The first harvest of Konjac Commodity on Sunday, 10 April 2021 owned by a farmer named Mr. Sahnan Yang, who is one of many farmers under PT. Mitra Porang Nusantara, was held at Desa Benteng Hulu Kec.Mempura, Siak. This event was presented by the Regent, Drs. H Alfedri, Siak Regency, Farmers Activating Porang, Siak Regency and Director, Mr. Ryan Audwinto.

The initial yield of the porang/konjac plant, which was harvested by the Regent of Siak Regency, was around 5 kg after 3 seasons planting past. The Regent of Siak Regency was incredibly supportive of the establishment of a factory built by PT. Mitra Porang Nusantara as a container for the harvest of porang/konjac farmers, when viewed from the condition of the state of Siak, which has large enough oil palm areas that can be intercropped with the porang commodity side by side, and seeing the potential of idle land is still very much, so with the existence of the porang commodity the farmers and the people of Siak can optimize the use of idle land and Regent.

Alfedri also said that the cultivation of the porang plant is more profitable than oil palm cultivation, because in a rough count, if one hectare can produce 24 tons yearly, it is very profitable for farmers and if this is multiplied by the price profit of Rp. 6000 per kilogram. He stated that the porang plant has a high commodity value, so that it becomes an export material for overseas, this makes porang a superior product in some villages area, one village one product. Currently porang farmers are waiting for the harvest period, with hundreds of thousands of stems located in six sub-districts in Siak Regency. Then the Chairman of the Porang Farmers Porang Nusantara (P3N) of Riau region activist, Deny Welianto hopes that Siak Regency will become one of the porang commodity centers in Riau because Siak has the potential for porang.
